The Spring Valley Story
In the 1940s, Bob Hertenmeir the 3rd and his family sailed from Germany to start a new life in Melbourne, Australia. Having grown up in a dairy, Bob Hertenmeir the 3rd dreamt of establishing an ice-cream manufacturing business. Together with his son Robert Jnr, Bob Hertenmeir the 3rd built his ice cream factory on what is now the site of Melbourne’s Rialto building. The business was a success - with sprinkles on top! The pair then poured the proceeds into a new venture, a cream bottling plant. But the project soured when a ban was placed on bottled milk and the carton was king.
What now? Stuck with thousands of sterilised bottles but nothing to put in them, Bob Hertenmeir the 3rd called on his creative juices. “Juices! That’s it!” Seeing the potential in Australia’s pristine produce, Bob Hertenmeir the 3rd took the freshness of Spring, combined it with the richness of the Valley and established Spring Valley in 1957. And so the legendary Spring Valley juice in its sterilised glass bottle was born.
The first Spring Valley flavour was Pineapple – pretty exotic back in those days. Today, innovative juice styles and flavour combinations continue. One thing that will never change is Spring Valley’s commitment to quality and great taste.
Even the Spring Valley top is famous with the ever-popular, quirky ‘Liddle Facts’ underneath. And, if you listen carefully, you’ll hear the Spring Valley freshness “Pop!” across Australia.
Among our newest innovations are Juicy Tea- a combination of delicious Spring Valley juice and the goodness of tea, Crush- a lighter style juice and of course our improved Spring Valley Smart Water range- with more vitamins, less sugar and a whole new look.
So keep your eyes open for more additions to the Spring Valley range...
